Hey! I’m Jamie — founder of Tuck & Char Co., mama of two, ex-PE teacher, and former lifeguard who still believes the best days are spent barefoot with a board under your feet.

I grew up on the water — surfed, skated, wake-surfed, you name it. I was a total tomboy who felt at home outdoors and even more alive chasing adrenaline. I met my husband while lifeguarding at the beach (naturally) and started teaching Physical Education full-time — because seriously what other “job” would I get? In college I had to decide on a major- and sense I loved sports & kids- I went the Physical Education route- plus we got paid the same as the Math & English teachers ;).

Then 2021 hit. My district required the Covid vaccine — I followed my conscience, said no, and was put on indefinite unpaid leave… aka: Fired.  Just like that, my teaching career ended. It was rough, but I believe in standing tall for what you believe in — always. Like seriously- no matter what- always stand up for what you believe in!

Thankfully, I’d kept my real estate license active and found my next chapter with Redfin Real Estate doing sales.  While postpartum with our second baby in 2023, I told my husband I wanted to start something of our own. What that was- I had no idea- I just knew it would help with taxes in CA at the time.  He probably thought I meant “someday.” I meant now. Haha.

What started with one hat sale on Etsy has exploded into something wild — and rad — that I never could’ve predicted. Tuck & Char Co. is now a full-blown family business designing small-batch surf, skate, and outdoor-inspired gear for kids who play hard and parents who still chase the stoke.

We are all about the lifestyle- getting kids stoked on a board & outside playing than on an iPad. 

And here’s the big news:
I’ve officially quit my 9-5 job.  My kids needed me home & present moreso than working and being away, especially on the weekends.   I went from juggling 3 full-time jobs — mom, Redfin sales, and business owner — down to 2. Which honestly- is 1,000 times harder! Lol. 

I’m getting closer every day to living the dream:  Getting to the point of being able to pay myself and help provide for our growing family & working for myself and not big corporate.  

Thank you for being here. Every order, every like, every share — it all matters to our family.  We are not a big corporation- we are literally just your average american family- running our business literally out of our garage while juggling our two very sweet but very feral kids lol trying to raise good humans who treat others with respect- and giving them a childhood where they can be KIDS.  Learning to do hard things and overcome challenges.  

We’re building something special. One wave, one wipeout, one tee, one little shredder at a time.
